About this course

This course is designed for early childhood educators and provides practical tools and evidence-based insights to foster safer, more supportive learning environments.

Participants will explore the critical role of nurturing relationships with children aged 0–5 and develop strategies to support healthy emotional regulation.

The course examines how exposure to trauma can heighten stress responses and disrupt the nervous system, often leading to physical symptoms, emotional dysregulation, and challenging behaviours.

Through real-world examples and actionable approaches, educators will gain strategies to help children manage their emotions, build resilience, and feel secure within their care settings.

Whether you are beginning your journey or refining your trauma-informed practice, this session will deepen your understanding, strengthen your professional capacity, and enhance the quality of care you provide in early childhood education.

You will:

  • Recognise how early experiences of stress and trauma can influence children’s behaviour, development, and relationships in early learning settings
  • Learn how to apply trauma-informed approaches to create predictable, nurturing and play-based environments that support safety, co-regulation and connection
  • Reflect on their own well-being, regulation and role in modelling calm, attuned and responsive relationships with children
