About this course

This course explores how to effectively introduce and develop computational thinking in alignment with the NSW Technologies syllabus; however, it is also relevant to teachers across Australia using the Australian Curriculum or their own state-based curriculum. It explores how to introduce and develop computational skills starting off with unplugged activities and then moving into a visual programming platform.

Teachers will gain practical strategies and lesson examples to help students think logically, solve problems, and create digital solutions. This session is designed to support teachers working with Years 5–8. This is the second in a three-part series exploring key thinking skills in the Digital Technologies syllabus.

You will:

  • Develop a clear understanding of computational thinking and its core concepts
  • Learn how to use Scratch as a tool to teach coding skills found within the syllabus
  • Explore practical activities that align with NSW K-6 Science and Technologies syllabus
