About this course

Far from being only the domain of the drama department, filmmaking can be integrated into all KLAs to make learning engaging for students of any age. Join experienced educator and passionate filmmaker, Cathy Brown in this practical overview of filmmaking and it’s many uses in the classroom.  

Not technologically gifted? Never fear – the course begins with a practical overview of the tools you will need, including iPads and other devices that are readily available in most schools. As well as learning fundamentals like how to shoot video and stills on an iPad and how to edit footage in iMovie, the course dives into common camera angles and their uses.

Cathy Brown is a seasoned educator with years of experience teaching in both public and private educational settings, ranging from preschool to tertiary levels. Her passion for education is evident, but it doesn't stop there. Cathy has an innate love for technology, graphic design, writing, and art. This diverse range of interests led her into the world of filmmaking, where she not only co-founded a film production company but also produced numerous films and television shows. Beyond the classroom and the film set, Cathy has contributed her expertise as an educational consultant for various international corporations. She is also the proud founder of Virtual Teacher, an educational platform dedicated to empowering teachers everywhere.
