NSW Teachers: This Course Counts Towards Your PD Hours

This course was published after the August 2024 NESA changes and as a result, does not carry NESA accreditation. From now on, all professional development activities, whether previously accredited or not, now count towards your required PD hours.Rest assured, this course maintains the same high standards as all ClassCover Learn courses. While NESA is no longer accrediting new PD courses, the flexibility of the new framework means you can explore more topics that interest you and still meet your accreditation requirements. Learn more

About this course

Arts is underrepresented in the curriculum.

Art finds a way... At least it should! Join Adam in a 2-hour course that considers the representation of the Performing Arts within the Primary curriculum and recommends how educators could expand its presence into other learning areas such as English.

This course intends to inspire and empower educators to bring performative art activities into their English lessons, in hopes to maximise engagement and expand developmental opportunities for their students. The course justifies and demonstrates English activities that collectively integrate all 5 performing Arts sub-domains (Music, Drama, Dance, Visual & Media Arts), with easy, quick-to-start activities, alongside demonstrations, all provided to ‘Artify’ your English classroom.

You will:

  • Develop your understanding of the importance of the arts and how English lessons can be enhanced through integrating elements of Creative Arts
  • Build your repertoire of teaching strategies and ideas to design lessons that incorporate Drama, Art, Dance and Music while also meeting English learning outcomes
  • Learn how to increase engagement and participation through an integrated approach to English and the arts
