About this course

Andrell Education owner, Samantha Taylor brings her passion for writing to her first course with ClassCover Learn. This course provides a general overview of the importance of openers in writing as well as strategies to help students recognise and differentiate between them. With lots of strategies to borrow, Sammy provides guidelines to help support students of all abilities to grow and develop their writing practice. 

You will:

  • Develop your skills in how to teach students through modelled, guided and independent practice, to develop more effective openers in their writing: at the beginning of all sentences, not just at the beginning of a text  
  • Learn strategies to help students recognise effective openers, be aware of how openers effect their writing, to know when to vary, when to be repetitive for effect, and when to use power openers
  • Understand how to provide adequate scaffolding and to differentiate to support all learners in their writing, ensuring they are building their writing skills and enjoying the writing process
