About this course

Exams are a challenging part of student life, the pressure for our teens is real and can be overwhelming. The good news is there are many things that we can do to support them. This course will provide you with practical tools, strategies and resources to support student mental health.

The foundations of this course are rooted in positive psychology, the fundamental insight that promoting mental health is not the same as treating mental illness. Assisting students to get rid of ways of thinking, being and doing that they don't want in their lives doesn't automatically bring them what they need. We need to intentionally teach students positive behaviour therapies and optimism.

Through the course you will examine how to assist students with managing difficult thoughts. Furthermore, you will learn strategies to not just treat catastrophisation; but how to 'hack' the parasympathetic nervous system with practices, techniques and ways of thinking to self-regulate.

Learning outcomes:

  • This course will provide you with practical strategies to support student mental health.
  • By the end of the course you have first hand experience of cognitive based therapy techniques to reduce stress.

  • You will be equipped with a toolkit of resources to utilise directly in the classroom to support students.
