NSW Teachers: This Course Counts Towards Your PD Hours

This course was published after the August 2024 NESA changes and as a result, does not carry NESA accreditation. From now on, all professional development activities, whether previously accredited or not, now count towards your required PD hours.Rest assured, this course maintains the same high standards as all ClassCover Learn courses. While NESA is no longer accrediting new PD courses, the flexibility of the new framework means you can explore more topics that interest you and still meet your accreditation requirements. Learn more

About this course

In this course, you'll learn about current research into developing intercultural understanding in schools. You'll hear practical ideas from teachers and find strategies that will help you avoid tokenism, encourage your colleagues to embrace diversity and create a partnership with a school different to your own.

Taught by the Together for Humanity Team, this course is linked to the Australian Curriculum and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

Throughout the course you will do a number of activities and at the end you'll complete a final assessment piece - a six-level reflection.

The course is interactive giving you an opportunity to interact with other teachers who are motivated to tackle intercultural challenges in their settings.

You will learn:

  • Review approaches to integrating multicultural content into curriculum programs.
  • Identify ways to increase your own intercultural competence.
  • Consider the possibilities of creating an inter-school partnership to help students develop their own intercultural understanding.
  • Complete a six-level reflection that describes some of your thinking about one of the issues raised in this module.
